November 1 Nell Program “Use of Force:

Northern Exposure to Lifelong Learning will wrap up its fall season on November 1 with Clearwater County Sheriff Darin Halverson. Sheriff Halverson will talk about what officer’s face when making the critical decision “to shoot or not to shoot.”

Sheriff Halverson has been in law enforcement for 25 years.  He started in 1992 as a part-time officer in Clearbrook and then became a part-time deputy in Clearwater County in 1993.  In 1995, he was hired as a full-time officer in Bagley and served there until 2013.  

During his time at Bagley he served as a patrol officer, Assistant Police Chief, K9 handler and Police Chief.  In 2013 he was hired by Clearwater County to be the Chief Deputy.  Sheriff Halverson was appointed Sheriff in October of 2014 and elected Sheriff in November of 2014 and is currently serving in that role. 

Join NELL on November 1 at 9:30 am at the Clearwater County Courthouse (old Courtroom) 213 Main Avenue North in Bagley for an opportunity to learn more about the decisions peace officers must make.
