Services for Dorothea Tjolsen

Dorothea (Dorothy) Ann Tjolsen, age 91, died on Sunday, May 17th, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Center in Clearbrook, MN.

Funeral services will be held at The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 11:00 AM, with a visitation one hour prior. Reverend Verlyn Strenge will officiate. Interment will follow the service at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Bagley, MN.

She was born June 1st, 1923, the daughter of Anthony and Ann Kawski in Crookston, MN.
She married Allen I. Tjolsen on November 12, 1951.

Dorothy attended school in Middle River, MN and graduated from high school in 1942. From there she started working at St. Lukes Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN. In 1948 she came to Bagley Hospital where she worked for a couple of years alongside Dr. Larson and Elizabeth Chapman. Then she transferred to New Clearwater County Memorial Hospital in 1950 where she worked for a number of years. Dorothy was an active member in her church. She belonged to many organizations including American Legion Auxiliary (46 years), Human Society, Foster Grand Parent Program, Bagley School (15 years) and Christian Women. In addition Dorothy also worked at Bemidji Nortec Plant for 8 years.

She is survived by her son, Lynn (Kim) Tjolsen of Trail; granddaughters, Jennifer (Todd) Tjolsen of Erskine, Bobbie (Steve) Tjolsen of Clearbrook; nephews, Albin, Chuck, Wally Chaplinski of Middle River, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen I. Tjolsen; Parents, Ann & Anthony Kawski; daughter, Merrie Key Tjolsen; brother, William (Bill) Kawski; step-brother, Albin Chaplinski Sr.; sister-in law, Julia Johnson.
