RLC Rebels Track and Field had four state participants
On Friday June 5th Cody Gagner competed on the first day of the State Track and Field meet. Cody ran in the prelims of the 800 meter. He had to finish in the top nine times to go to the finals on Saturday. He finished with a time of 1:55.41 which placed him 2nd going into Saturday’s finals. Cody improved his time by five seconds from earlier this season which helped him break the team record in the 800 meter he held from last season at a 1:58.20. Ashley Longtin competed in the high jump. She finished with a jump of 4’8” feet which placed her 16th overall. Zoe Russillo competed in the 100 meter. She had to finish in the top nine times to go to the finals on Saturday. She finished with a time of 13.64 which placed her 16th overall.
On Saturday June 6th Cody Gagner competed in the finals of the 1600 meter. Cody placed 7th with a time of 4:25.85 which broke his team record by seven seconds from earlier this season at a 4:32.69. Cody then competed in the finals of the 800 meter where he finished in 2nd place with a time of 1:57.15. The highest placing in RLC Rebel Track and Field history at the state track and field meet. Wyatt Schirrick competed in the discus and placed 8th with a throw of 143’3”. Wyatt was ranked 12th coming into the meet and was able to make it to the finals by being in the top ten after the prelim throws and placed four spots higher than seeded. The three placings by the boys scored the Rebel team 15 points for 15th place out of over 100 teams competing in the Class A state meet for boys. It was also the highest placing for any Section 8A team boys or girls at this year’s state meet.
Cody Gagner and Wyatt Schirrick received a great honor by earning the Minnesota All-State Award, for placing in the finals of their events. Congratulations to Cody and Wyatt on that accomplishment.
Wyatt Schirrick, Madison Thompson, Ashley Longtin, Josie Huot, Megan LaCrosse, and Makenzie Williams received a great honor by earning the Minnesota Academic All-State Award, for their accomplishments in the classroom and in their events.
Cody Gagner finished off a great track and field career by making it to the State Track and Field meet for the three times. Cody congratulations on an awesome career and good luck next year at MSU-Moorhead in school and track & field.

Ashley Longtin has a bright future ahead in his track and field career by making it to the State Track and Field Meet for the first time as a sophomore. We look forward to great seasons ahead for Ashley.
