Services for Wayne Olson
Wayne Olson, 63, formerly of Berner, MN, died on Monday, September 19, 2016 at his home in Eau Claire, WI.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at United Lutheran Church in Berner, MN with Pastor Kris Snyder officiating. A visitation will be on Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bagley, MN, as well as an hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Augustana Lutheran Cemetery in Clearbrook, MN. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with the arrangements.
Wayne Arthur Olson was born to Arthur and Margaret Olson on July 24, 1953. He grew up in Berner, MN and attended Gonvick School. Wayne worked for various farmers around the Berner area while attending high school. He graduated from high school in 1971. He attended Staples Vocational Technical School, learning the Tool and Die trade. He worked for Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls, MN, New Ulm Precision Tool in New Ulm, MN and Hutchinson Technology in Hutchinson, MN and Eau Claire, WI. He retired from Hutchinson Technology in 2013. In 1978, Wayne married Lois Bergman. In 1979 their son, Brian Andrew Olson was born, followed by another son, Thomas Alan Olson. Thomas died in 1983.
Wayne loved spending time with his grandchildren. They brought him such joy. He loved being called "grand papa". Wayne was also an excellent woodworker and spent many hours out in his shop working on various projects. He made wooden tricycles, piggy banks, a mission-style bed and end tables, etc. He also loved working outside and going for walks with his German Shepherd, Erma. Wayne also enjoyed making sausage with his Wisconsin friends and playing cards with special friends in Hutchinson. Wayne was often found with a smile on his face and had a kind word to say. He was a man of his word.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Lois; his son, Brian (Sara); his sister, Patty (Rob) Brekke; his sister-in-law Lisa (Tim) Beckstrand; his brothers-in-law, Greg(Karen) Bergman and Paul (Sally) Bergman; and his grandchildren, Caitlin, Emerson, and Eilla. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his son, Thomas; and his parents, Arthur and Margaret Olson.
