Services for Wallace Hugh Porc

Wallace Hugh Porch, of Williams, passed away on November 4, 2016, at the age of 90.
He was born April 12, 1926 to Elza and Gladys (Wadsworth) Porch in the Three Mile area of Montana. His family moved to Florence, Montana on the Thorton Ranch. His father passed away when he was twelve years old.
Wally went to school at Florence and graduated from High School. During Wally’s younger years he loved to swim, boat down the Bitterroot River, ice skate and was a great basketball player. He made sure his children knew how to swim.
Wally worked at different farms as a farm hand. Worked at the American Crystal Sugar factory. Worked at Boeing Aircraft building B-29’s planes in Seattle, Washington.
Wallace met Vernie Martin and she was his school sweetheart. They married on April 12, 1947. They are proud parents of a son and three daughters.
They lived in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana for some years. Wally owned his trucks and hauled milk for the Community Creamery in Missoula, Montana. He logged for a few years until he got hurt. The family moved to the Flathead Lake to Polson, Montana for 7 years farmed and worked at Dupius Lumber Mill. Moved to Deer Lodge, Montana and was a saw filer for L.P. Pacific Mill. He was a dairy supervisor at Deer Lodge prison on Montana.
In 1969 Wallace and his family moved to Grygla, MN and farmed, raised cattle, sheep, pigs, grain and hay. Moved to Oklee, MN and retired. Wally and Vernie have lived in Williams, MN with their son Roger and daughter-in-law Barb for the last year.
Wallace is survived by his wife of 69 years, Vernie, of Williams; four children, Roger (Barb) Porch of Williams, Loretta (Joe) Brooks of Ronan, Montana, Linda (Lyle) Nelson of Grygla, Debbie (Bill) Carr of Brainerd, MN. 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; and one sister Patricia (Porch) Kidder of Missoula, Montana.
Wallace is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 3 brother-in-law’s, and 4 sister-in-law’s.
Cremation was taken care of by Helgeson Funeral Home of Baudette, MN. Burial will take place at the Porch family plot at the Sunnyside Cemetery of Stevensville, Montana. Services for Wally and Vernie will be held at Oklee Lutheran Church, in Oklee, MN at a later date, after Vernie’s passing.
