Services for Victor Schiefert

Victor Schiefert, Plummer, MN, age 71, passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 19, 2021A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Brooks, MN with Father Bob Schreiner presiding. Burial will be at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Plummer, MN.

Public Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN.  Please wear a face mask and practice social distancing.

 

Victor H. Schiefert was born on March 2, 1949 in Thief River Falls, MN, the son of George “Art” and Francis (Knott) Schiefert.  The 4th child of seven children. Victor was baptized and confirmed at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Plummer, MN. He attended school in Plummer, MN and graduated from Pershing High School, Plummer, MN in 1968. Victor graduated from trade school, Hanson Mechanical School in Fargo, ND.

 

Victor’s first job as a mechanic was at Star Champlin Service in Fargo, ND. He then moved back to Plummer and started work at Falls Diesel as a mechanic for 2-3 years. Northstar transport had a different vision for Victor offering him a job as a dispatcher until he bought the home farm.  Victor purchased his own truck and for 15 years leased to Transport America and Hanson trucking of Karlstad, MN.

 

Victor loved the outdoors.  He especially loved traveling with his brothers on hunting and fishing trips, even if it was just for the day. Victor also enjoyed taking day trips on his motorcycle not venturing too far from home.

 

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Brooks, MN and the National Riffle Association.

 

He is survived by his siblings, Marie Swanson, Sandy Osbjornson both of Thief River Falls, MN, Sidney (Sue) Schiefert, Bloomington, MN, Harley (Alice) Schiefert, West Fargo, ND, James (Sherry) Schiefert, Plummer, MN, Connie (Joe) Suko, Apachie Junction, AZ; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Ira Suko; and brothers-in-law, Robert Swanson and Glen Osbjornson.
