Services for Robert D. Johnson, Jr.

Robert D. Johnson Jr, age 52, of Mahnomen, MN, died Thursday, August 3, 2017, at the Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley, MN.
Robert Dale was born on November 12, 1964, to Robert and Lorraine (Spaeth) Johnson in Mahnomen. Growing up, he attended school at Mahnomen Public and was known as the neighborhood "Evil Knievel"! Bobby, playing the part to perfection, was able to persuade the neighborhood kids to lay down for him while he performed great jumping acts with his bicycle. He was also active for many years in boy scouts and with St. Michael's Catholic Church as an alter server. At the young age of 15, Bobby entered the workforce at the court house under a special program for youth. Following high school, he continued his full time employment at the court house in maintenance, working his way up to Building Supervisor. During this time, Bobby kindled a relationship with Diane Hanson, in which the couple was blessed with a son, Noah. In the spring of 2016, Bobby retired after thirty plus years of work at the courthouse.
Bobby was an avid sports fan, especially cheering on the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings. He enjoyed cooking and sharing his wonderful meals with family. His sense of humor was top notch, but it didn't stop his caring heart and thoughtfulness from shining through. Bobby was also a true history buff who loved to read especially about wars, presidents and the military, a group which he had the utmost respect for.
Bobby is survived by a son, Noah Hanson, Oklee, MN; his mother, Lorraine, of Mahnomen; two sisters, Debbie (Kevin) Kowalski and Sherri (Kelly) Brodsho, all of Fargo, ND; two nephews, Ryan (Melissa) Brodsho and Erik Brodsho; and two great-nephews: Hendrix and Jameson Brodsho; aunts, uncles, cousins, and his loving canine companion, Annabelle. He is preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Monday, August 7, 2017 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Mahnomen, MN. Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 6, 2017 from 3:00pm until 5:00pm, with a Prayer Service at 4:30pm, at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen.
Blessed be the Memory of Robert Johnson, Jr.
