Services for Richard Gordon Foss
Richard Gordon Foss, 65, of rural Tiskilwa, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in his home.
A Memorial Service will be held 4 p.m. Sunday in the Willow Springs Mennonite Church, Tiskilwa, with Matthew Peterson officiating. A memorial visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday in the Tiskilwa Library. Arrangements are through the Fiocchi-Jensen Funeral Home, Princeton. Richard was born on September 30, 1951 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota to Gordon and Thelma (Ostlund) Foss. He was a graduate of the University of North Dakota. He had been a pastoral elder at Plow Creek Fellowship. He had worked at the Horizon House for 20 years. He was C.E.O. of Evergreen Leaders for 11 years, was a columnist for the Bureau Valley Chief for over 10 years, and an author of 2 books; “Jonas & Sally” and “Green Light Fundraising.”
He married Sarah Carlson on May 18, 1974 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He was a member of the Plow Creek Fellowship, and former president of the Tiskilwa Library Board.
He is survived by: his wife, Sarah Foss of Tiskilwa; his children, Hannah (Donny) Hackworth of Jacksonville, Florida, Heidi (Woju) Worabo of San Antonio, Texas, and Jonathan (Jasmin Aguirre-Rendon) Foss of Oakland, California; 7 brothers and sisters, Marvin (Helen) Foss of Grygla, Minnesota, David Foss of Florida, Debra Dahl of Cloquet, Minnesota, Timothy (Jean) Foss of Grygla, Minnesota, Steven (Alana) Foss of Grygla, Minnesota, Gary (Melanie) Foss of Perham, Minnesota and Kathryn Foss of Hibbing, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by: His parents and 2 brothers.

Loving kindness are the two words that come to mind when we think about our Dad, who he was and how he lived. There was nothing ordinary about him and as we told him often, he was simply the best Dad on the planet. He taught us that life is an adventure and was always there, fully present, to laugh with us, cry with us, and listen to what was in our hearts and on our minds. He had a way of encouraging, asking profound questions, and offering divine wisdom. He spent each day of his life doing what he did best, loving people.
