Olaf (Ole) Leslie Watne was born April 5, 1948, to parents Lawerence(Bud) and Pearl (Rystad) Watne at Fosston, MN. Ole was baptized and confirmed at Lund Lutheran church , Gully, MN where he grew up.  Ole passed away at home at the age of 69 years.

Ole attended Gully Elementary School and graduated from Gonvick High School in 1966.  After graduation Ole worked for different farmers in Montana, the returned to Gully and farmed with Bud.  He was drafted into the US Army on March 25, 1968 and given a medical discharge on April 27, 1968.  Ole then worked for Northern Pipeline until purchasing his own “Ford rig” in 1971.

Ole was united to Dianne Wiberg on April 5, 1969, his 21st birthday at the Vernes Church in rural McIntosh.  To this union 3 sons were born, Bing (David), Porky (Steven) and Boo (Bobby).

Ole & Dianne bought his Grandpa & Grandma Watne's home farm and raised their 3 boys there, farming and trucking.  Farming the home place, buying Tora Bora were his greatest pleasures. Ole hauled grain, hauled for the pipeline but his favorite was going to Chicago and always brought home “treasures”. Their door was always open if anyone needed a place to stay. He loved country music and especially when his son, grandsons and granddaughters gathered around him for a “Jam Session”.

One of his favorite says was, “there is no such word as CAN'T”.

Even with Ole's declining health he always wanted to know what everyone was doing and enjoyed when someone would come by with their trucks so he could check them out.

Ole is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dianne, sons Bing (Kristi), Porky (Stacey) and Boo (Laura). His mother Pearl, also survives along with sisters Patty (David) Carlson, Shirley (Warren) Solheim, sisters-in-law Elaine (Carey) Burslie, Iris (Mike) Ophus and brother-in-law, Mark Wiberg of St. Paul. Grandchildren, Joshua (Kaitlin), Bailey, Brigette, Lane, and Dani, S

Watne.jpghaylie and Chase Watne.  Also survived by step grandchildren, numerous nieces , nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his dad Bud, brother Gary, infant sister Beverly, father-in-law and mother-in-law Gerald & Evie Wiberg, daughter-in-law Marcy, nephew Darrin Carlson, and nephew Wayne Solheim.

Ole was a Dad, Grandpa, and neighbor and friend to all who knew him. We will miss his laughter and great humor.  Stories and memories about Ole will live on forever.
