Services for Nevina “Dolly” Maria Walker
Nevina “Dolly” Maria Walker, 92, of Bagley, MN died on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Cornerstone Assisted Living in Bagley, MN.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Bagley, MN with a visitation one hour prior. Reverend Mark Olson will officiate. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.
Nevina was born in Clearbrook, Minnesota on November 14, 1925, the daughter of William and Jane (Westrum) Johnson. She attended Clearbrook Country School until 8th grade. She was baptized on January 13, 1926, at Evangelical Lutheran in Clearbrook, MN. She was confirmed on June 30, 1940 at Bethsaida Lutheran Church in Clearbrook, MN.
She was united in marriage to James Joseph Walker on June 16, 1945 in California. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Bagley, MN.
Her greatest joys were her children and grandchildren. She loved unconditionally and was always there. She was the kind of grandma everyone dreams of.
Nevina “Dolly” didn’t have a college degree or jobs in high positions. What she did have was a kind, loving, forgiving soul. She was a beautiful lady inside and out. One of her nieces once said, ”There is a special place in heaven for Dolly.” She loved to put on a “snappy” outfit, matching earrings and necklace, just a touch of lipstick, and go visit with her dear friends and family. She wasn’t vain, it just made her “feel better”. She could be in her hospital bed and want her jewelry on and hair done!
She was an outstanding Lefsa maker, which she shared the art of making lefsa with her daughter and granddaughters. Her grandchildren lined up for thin pancakes at grandma’s and even some of the class of 2002 Flyer basketball team! Most of all, her grandchildren lined up for her love. She will be missed.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, James J. Walker of Bagley, MN; her children, Larry (Louise) Walker of Bagley, MN, Bradley (Marcia) Walker of Florida, Bruce (Debbie) of Shevlin, MN and Janie (Johnny) Jordahl of Gonvick, MN; one step daughter, Jo (Tim) Aery of Baudette, MN; 14 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; her daughters-in-law, Jackie Rogers of Crookston, MN, Vickie Walker of Bagley, MN, and Vicki Walker of Dillworth, MN; her son-in-law, Kurt Derby of Bagley, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Leslie Duane; her parents, William and Jane Johnson; 3 sisters, Irene, Edythe, and Jeanette; 3 brothers, Wallace, Churchill, Alvin; 2 great grandsons, Chez Andrew Walker and Lane Leslie Egeland.
