Wednesday, February 19, 2025, Marlys Blooflat, 80, of Bagley, Minnesota passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Sanford Medical Center in Bagley after battling cancer.
Visitation will take place on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bagley, Minnesota. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bagley with a visitation one hour prior. Reverend Genelle Netland will be officiating. Interment will be held at Nora Township Cemetery in Bagley.

Wallert and Myrtle (Erickson) Netland, welcomed a beautiful baby girl to the family when Marlys Myrtle was born on January 24, 1945, in Nora Township on the family farm. She grew up with eight other siblings and attended Nora Township Country School and graduated from Bagley High School in 1962. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith and was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.
Marlys married Donald Blooflat on August 26, 1965, in Roy Lake, Minnesota. In 1966, they found their way to Michigan for a few months, as Don was playing in a band. Later that year, on December 19, 1966, their first-born son Bradley Brent was born. Soon after, they made their way back to Minnesota and made their home south of Bagley. On November 5, 1970, the family welcomed a girl, Jennifer Ann. To complete their family, their youngest son, Brent Donald was born on January 10, 1982.
Marlys started working at the Clearwater County Court House in 1964 as a deputy recorder in the County Recorder’s office. After 27 years working as a deputy, she ran for office in 1990 and won the title as Clearwater County Recorder. She held this position for 9 years until retiring at the age of 54 in 1999. After retirement she and Don enjoyed camping, hunting, dancing, playing cards and trying their luck at the casino. Marlys loved sports, especially football, and attended all the boys’ games throughout little league, high school and college. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking and reading. If you have ever been to the Blooflat home, you certainly have had a pancake or two growing up! However, nothing compared to spending time bonding with her grandson Oliver, who was her pride and joy.
Marlys is survived by her son-Brent (Amy) Blooflat of Bagley, MN; Grandson- Oliver Blooflat.

Brother-Larry (Karla) Netland of Bagley, MN
Uncle-Roger Erickson of Grand Rapids, MN
Along with several nieces, nephews and extended family
Marlys was preceded in death by her parents; husband-Don; son-Bradley; daughter-Jennifer.
Sisters-Myrtle Marie and Andrea; brothers-Wayne and Harley; and her In-laws-Archie and Henrietta Blooflat.
