Services for Marlane Langemo

Marlane Langemo, age 83, of Erskine, MN, (formerly of Fosston and McIntosh), passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at The Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2015 at The Pioneer Memorial Care Center Chapel in Erskine, MN with Pastor Mark Peske officiating. Interment will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Cease Family Funeral Home in Bagley, MN from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2015 with a Prayer Service at 6:30. Arrangements were with the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley, MN.

Marlane Jerald Langemo was born on April 19, 1932, on The Martin and Lovisa Voxland farm to parents Gerhard and Myrtle (Voxland) Langemo. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural McIntosh, MN. He grew up on his parents’ farm, attending the Voxland country school. He furthered his education by attending McIntosh High School, then the Ag School on the University of Minnesota’s Crookston Campus, graduating in 1950.

As a youngster, Marlane was very close to his Uncle Richard Voxland, spending much time with him and his Grandpa Voxland on the “home place”. Farming with a team of horses was a joy at that time, though much work. Marlan often told stories about the times there and the different hired girls who helped out with cooking and cleaning those years.

Marlane also had a special relationship with his Uncel Herman Langemo from Kenyon, MN. Marlane especially enjoyed family trips to Kenyon to visit.

On December 1, 1956, Marlane was united in marriage with Loris Gunderson in Winger, MN. After their marriage, they resided on their farm north of McIntosh. With the help of his wife, Marlane raised sheep and black Angus cattle on the farm where he was born. He enjoyed working with horses, usually herding cattle with the horses he owned.

Later in life, Marlane and Loris moved to their farm east of Fosston, where he continued raising cattle and enjoying his horses. When Marlane and Loris moved into their house in Fosston, they daily traveled to the farm for chores and the enjoyment of his Australian shepherd dog, Richard. At home, Marlane’s white Angora cat, Harvey, brought him much enjoyment and comfort.

Marlane moved to Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN in the summer of 2012. He missed the open pastures and caring for his animals. 

Survivors include his wife, Loris, of Erskine, Mn; his sister, Mary (Loren) Baumbach of Northfield, MN; his brothers, Mark (Jan) Langemo of McIntosh, MN, and Jack (Kathleen) Randall of Cameron, MO. His is also survived by several cousins, as well as 12 nieces and nephews and their children.

Marlane was preceded in death by his infant son, Richard Verle Langemo, his parents, and one sister, Louise (Dallas) Nelson.

He would like to be remembered as a cowboy who loved his ranch and critters. He was faithful to pray every night.
