Services for Mark Alvin Hendrickson

Mark Alvin Hendrickson – 61 years of age - of New Hope, MN passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, September 4, 2019.

Mark was born July 4, 1958 in Minneapolis, MN to Clyde and Patricia Hendrickson.

He graduated from Binford High School, Binford, ND in 1977, where he excelled in track and chorus. Mark, a quietly religious man, took a trip of a lifetime in January 1978 to the Holy Lands. He spoke of it often and loved every minute of it.  As a child, Mark enjoyed spending time in Gonvick, MN at the farms of his grandparents as well as his Uncle John & Aunt Barb Brooks’ farm whenever he could. He loved riding the tractors with his grandpas, helping his grandmas with their gardens and flowers, feeding and taking care of the animals and gathering eggs from the chicken coop. He enjoyed exploring and having fun on these farms with his siblings and cousins. After graduation Mark worked as a hired hand on several farms including the farm of Jarl Iverson, Binford, ND and the Brooks farm in Gonvick, MN. Later, Mark attended the ND State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND and graduated in May 1985 with an Associate’s Degree in Parts Management where he excelled and received an outstanding scholastic achievement award for having received a 3.5-4.00 grade point average. He was employed at the Farm Implement Store, Michigan, ND; Lake Supply Implement, Devils Lake, ND and after moving to the Twin Cities, MN area he found work in parts management, warehousing and shipping.

After making another memorable trip, this time to experience the beauty of Alaska in July 2000 at a family reunion, Mark was hired in September 2000 at Metro Hardwoods, Maple Grove, MN where he worked for nearly nineteen years until his passing.  He was a valued employee who enjoyed gentle ribbing in the warehouse where he was referred to as “Boxcar Willie” for his exceptional skill and speed at unloading boxcars of various woods, labeling and storing them in the warehouse. He enjoyed his “work family” and the special friends he made during his nineteen year career there. Mark was especially thankful to the employees of Metro Hardwoods who helped him, visited him and prayed for him after an earlier heart attack in August 2016.

Mark loved spending time with his extended family, gardening and taking care of his yard. He was a great admirer of John Deere tractors and enjoyed tractor threshing shows. His favorite vacation spot was the Duluth/Lake Superior and North Shore areas.

Mark is survived by his parents Clyde and Patricia Hendrickson, Moorhead, MN; brother Paul (Wendy) Hendrickson of Fargo, ND; sister Kathy Hendrickson, New Hope, MN; nephew Luke (Erica) Hendrickson and their daughters Lacey and Audrey of the Fargo, ND area; niece Sarah (Parker) Vander Wal and their children Kolby, Brody, Lilly and Rubey of Argusville, ND and nephew Andrew (Amanda) Hendrickson and their children Fiona, Gemma and Liam of Thompson, ND.
