Jay McCrehin passed away at 88 years. November 14, 2023 from a heart attack at his home in Indian Land, South Carolina.
Jay Harlan McCrehin was born in Fosston to Loren and Irene McCrehin June 27, 1935. He was baptized and confirmed at what is now Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Leonard. He grew up in Leonard and graduated from Clearbrook High School in 1953.
Jay spent several seasons on the ore boats on the Great Lakes and helping his dad at the Leonard gas station in the winters. He was drafted in the Army stationed in Germany. After his military service he went to work in Minneapolis and met Marseille Lind. They were married February 29, 1964.
Jay attended Brown Institute in Minneapolis and the couple moved to Kansas City where he was employed by IBM as a computer technician and where their son, Jud, was born.
After retirement Jay and Marseille traveled the country in their motor home spending their winters in Florida and finally settling in Indian Land, SC.
Survivors include his wife, Marseille, his son, Jud (Christine) McCrehin of Warrenton, VA, grandchildren Eva McCrehin and Lily McCrehin, brother Larry (Robyn) McCrehin, Sitka, AK and sister Carol (Ray) Sundquist, Gonvick, MN and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents
