Ina Burman of Trail, MN, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Essentia Hospital in Fosston, MN, at the age of 81.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Oklee, MN, with Rev. Jonathan Dodson officiating. Burial will follow at Clearwater Cemetery, Oklee, MN.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Oklee.
Ina Mae Burman was born on March 17, 1934 to Loyde and Alpha Howard. Her family was her life and joy. She grew up and graduated high school in Plummer, MN. She met Marvin at a picnic basket social at the church and he gave her an engagement ring for her graduation in June of 1952. They were married the following December 12th.
The newlyweds lived on the Burman farm with his parents for a few years and then moved to the twin cities to live with Eileen & Melvin. They eventually purchased the house on Elliot Ave in Minneapolis, where they lived raising four children, 9 foster children and others whom they invited to live with throughout the years.
Ina worked as a paraprofessional in the Minneapolis Public Schools for 41 years before retiring to the farm in Oklee of 2000. She loved dogs and cats which were her companions over the years. She enjoyed reading, cooking, playing cards, listening to gospel music, collecting salt & pepper shakers, doing crafts, doing crosswords, sewing, and talking about her family and grandchildren. They were the highlights of her life.
Survived by 4 children, Lynn Burman, Violet Finkelson (Lind Burman) & husband Daryl, Wendy Stauffacher, and Debbie Kannel-Howard; two sisters, Eileen Woell and Ila Eliason; brother Dwight (Stella) Howard; three sister-in-laws, Faith Lamkin, Marie Weaver, and Millie Howard; 9 grandchildren, Adam Burman, Brian (Missy) Burman, Carl (fiancé Teresa) Burman, Meghan (Ben) Herzog, Daniel Burman, Paul (Tana) Stauffacher, Scott Stauffacher, Jillian (Stewart) Tahtinen, and Ryan Kannel. 14 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Marvin F. Burman in 1991, parents, Loyde and Alpha Howard, 3 brothers, Dale, Duane and Loyde, one sister Sandra, and daughter-in-law Dawn.
