Services for Elsie E. Skime
Elsie E. Skime, 83, of Gonvick, MN passed away peacefully on September 17, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Center in Clearbrook, MN.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Samhold Lutheran Church in Gonvick, MN with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at Samhold Lutheran Cemetery. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with the arrangements.
Elsie was born January 9, 1933 near Pembina ND, the daughter of John and Victaline Venne. Elsie was united in marriage to Edward Skime on December 12th, 1951. They resided in Grafton, ND and Texas while Edward was in the service, moving to Silver Bay, MN where Edward was employed with Reserve Mining Company. They moved to the family farm in Gonvick, MN in 1970. Elsie was a full time homemaker, raising their four children while helping Edward on the farm. Elsie enjoyed traveling with her husband and, in their later years, spent their winters in Texas until Edward passed away July 3rd, 2008.
Elsie will be remembered for her selflessness, her unconditional love, her commitment to her family and her faith. She was a loving wife and mother, as well as a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. Nothing delighted Elsie more than spending time with family and friends. Elsie’s smile, generosity, friendliness and warm spirit will be missed by all.
Elsie is survived by her son, Kevin Skime of Gonvick, MN and her daughter, Vicki (John) Ruzicka, of Grafton, ND; two sisters, Josephine Bergman of Langdon, ND and Laura White of Walhalla, ND; her grandchildren Josh (Shannon) Turman, Dustin Eck, Naomi Turman, Hailey (Eric) Schepp, Jordan Turman, Daisey Eck, Crystal (Steve) Nordlund, Star Ann Shank, and Tyler Skime; and 14 great grandchildren.
Elsie is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Skime, her daughters Ramona Turman (2007) and Deborah Brinker (2008), her parents John and Victaline Venne and several aunts and uncles.
