Services for Eleanor Sundquist
Eleanor Sundquist, 97, of Gonvick, MN died on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Center in Clearbrook, MN.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church in Berner, MN with the Reverend Kris Snyder officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, December 2, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a family service at 6:30 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bagley and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the United Lutheran Cemetery in Berner, MN.
Eleanor was born on February 19, 1919 at Gonvick, MN the daughter of Olaf and Lillis (Kasler) Dunrud. She grew up and graduated from Gonvick High School in 1938 and was confirmed at the Samhold Lutheran Church in Gonvick, MN. Eleanor worked as a telephone operator in Oklee and married Edward Wilhelm Sundquist on December 2, 1938 at Gonvick. They bought a farm north of Berner and moved there to farm and raise their 4 children. Eleanor became a Goldstar mother in October of 1966 when her son John was killed in the Vietnam War. Edward and Eleanor moved into the town of Berner in 1977. Eleanor and her daughter owned the Berner Ceramic shop in Berner for 15 years. Edward died on August 17, 1992 and in 1993, Eleanor moved to Gonvick. She was the Lefse Queen of Berner and made Lefse for many people around the community. Eleanor enjoyed crocheting, gardening and reading. She was very active at United Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. She was a member of the Gonvick American Legion Post #304 Auxiliary and a member of the VFW Auxiliary of Trail. Eleanor was on the board at the Clearbrook Senior Center and was crowned the female Clearwater County Senior Citizen of the year.
She is survived by her daughter – Fay (Gelloyd) Bjerke of Gonvick, MN

Son – Jim (Marilyn) Sundquist of Gonvick, MN
10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren
Sister-in-law – Marcy Dunrud of Thief River Falls, MN
Sister-in-law – Gloria Sundquist of Cut Bank, MT
Sister-in-law – Florence Danielson of Gonvick, MN
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son – John, Granddaughters – Becky, Diane and Cheryl. Grandsons - Jesse Bjerke, Chad Bergman and two infant grandsons. 1 brother – Kenneth and 2 sisters – Anna Mae and Iola, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
