Services for Clifford Carl Fischer

Clifford Carl Fischer, 98, of McIntosh, MN and formerly of Gonvick, MN, died on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at McIntosh Senior Living Center.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Samhold Lutheran Church in Gonvick, MN with Rev. Kris Snyder officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Samhold Lutheran Church in Gonvick, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:30. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Inurnment will be in the spring. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with the arrangements.
Clifford was born on June 13, 1918 in Bucyrus, North Dakota to Henry and Annie (Brastad) Fischer. He was united in marriage to Alice Bloomgren on August 23, 1941 in Randall, Minnesota. He served in the Army from 1942 to 1945. He worked at CL Nelson Company and Northern Sand and Gravel for 45 years, retiring in 1985. Clifford was a member of Samhold Lutheran Church, the Gonvick Fire Department, becoming Fire Chief, the VFW, and the Gonvick American Legion for 56 years. He volunteered with Hospice Care, and was even rewarded with the Volunteer Hospice Caregiver of the Year. He was also the Clearwater County Senior Citizen of the Year and he and Alice were once the Clearwater Valley Farmers/Homemakers of the Year. Clifford also served his community by teaching Sunday School, serving on the Church Council, as well as the City Council, and as Mayor of Gonvick. He was an outstanding citizen and will be remembered for always being willing to help any friend or neighbor.
He loved wood working, cutting wood, and time spent with family and his grandchildren. Family was very important to Clifford; he could not get enough time with his kids and grandkids. He married with love of his life, Alice, and was proud of their 69 years together. Blessed be his memory.
He is survived by his children, Connie Syverson, Corky Syverson, Janet Brenteson, Jim (Phyllis Hagen) Fischer, Mary (Bob) Olson, LeRoy Johnson, Rick (Barb) Fischer, and Kevin (Wanda) Fischer; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; his sisters-in-law, Dottie Johnson, Jan Dalquist, and Dotte Dalquist; and his brothers-in-law, Chuck Sutton and Gerry (June) Dalquist; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice, who passed on September 11, 2010; his daughter, Nancy Johnson, who passed in 2009; his parents, Henry and Annie (Brastad) Fischer; his siblings, Harry Fisher, Mildred (Van) Sharon, Richard Fisher, Lavina (Russ) Ladson, Florence (John) Eck, Henry (Gertie) Fisher, George (Peg) Fischer, Roger (Dorothy) Fischer, Lloyd Fischer, Violet (Will) Carpenter, Vernon (Esther) Fischer, and Virginia Sutton; his sons-in-law, Arnold Syverson and Karsten Syverson.
