Services for Brian James Gunning

Brian James Gunning, 53, of Gonvick, MN, died on Thursday, September 29, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Gonvick, MN after his courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Samhold Lutheran Church in Gonvick, MN with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at Greenwood Lutheran Cemetery in Clearbrook, MN. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with the arrangements.
He was born on April 27, 1963 in Bagley, Minnesota to Arthur and Viola (Nelson) Gunning. He graduated from Clearbrook High School in 1982. After he graduated, he moved to California where he worked at a Lumberyard. Brian moved back to Northern Minnesota and started his pipeline career, working with different companies. He loved the Gonvick area and had resided there for the last twenty one years.
Brian loved fishing, hunting, and splitting wood. He would never miss an opportunity to go to the movies, out to eat, or just talking and spending time with his family, especially his daughter, Maisie. They were the best of friends. He will be extremely missed.
He is survived by his children, Maisie Gunning, Jonathan (Kim) Solberg, and Katie (Brent) Halvorson; his grandchildren, Trever and Gavin Solberg and Kinsley and Kennedy Halvorson; his spouse, Connie Solberg; his mother, Viola Moen; his siblings, Dwight (Corliss) Gunning, Douglas (Robin) Gunning, Debra (Daryl) Nelson, and Teri (Bill) Russell; his nieces and nephews, Tracy, Gretchan, Dara, and Nathan; Connie’s parents, Frank and Annie Bergh; and Connie’s siblings, Wayne Bergh, Patty (Jim) Beardsley, Janet (Rob) Thompson, and Charles (Barb) Bergh.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Gunning.
