Services for Alex C. Dessellier

Alex C. Dessellier, 82, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017, in Villa Maria Nursing Home, Fargo, ND. Alex was born August 21, 1934, to Andrew and Alexina (Carrier), in Oklee, MN, where he grew up and attended school. As one of 17 children, he grew up helping family until the age of 15. Alex then moved to Fargo, ND, where he worked on a farm until enlisting in the U.S. Army. While in the service, he learned his trade in sheet metal work that would serve him well over the years. After his service in the Army, Alex married Darlene Derosier. Together they made their home in Moorhead and started a family. He continued to work and later owned and operated his own gutter service in the community. Alex was very handy, was a hard worker and enjoyed keeping busy. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors when he had the chance. He will be greatly missed.

Alex is survived by his wife, Darlene; children, Dennis (Suzanne) Dessellier, Richard (Brenda) Dessellier, Linda (Ed) Jacobson, Lisa Dessellier; grandchildren, Tristen (John Johnson) Dessellier, Derek (Rebecca), Danielle, Joshua; seven great-grandchildren, Paisley, Harper, Paxton, Marissa, Mason, Jacoby and Flynn; siblings, Vincent, Louis, Eugene, Ernest, David, Sis (Cecile), Joyce, May, Carol; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and seven siblings.

A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, May 6, from 11 – 12 p.m., followed by the memorial mass at 12 p.m., in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN.

Interment will be at the Columbarium at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
