Russell “Charlie” Hanson
Russell “Charlie” Hanson, 77, of Bagley, Minnesota passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at home with his family by his side.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bagley. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Free Lutheran Church in Bagley with Pastor Scott Olson officiating. Visitation will begin 1 hour prior at the church. Interment will be held at the Minerva Township Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Irvin Blix American Legion Post #16 of Bagley. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.
Russell James Hanson was born on January 6th, 1949, to Alice and Clarence Hanson of Minerva, MN. He went to Grace Lutheran church in Minerva, where he was baptized. Russell attended Minerva elementary from 1st to 6th grade and then Bagley High School. After school he joined the Army in 1968 and was stationed in Vietnam, where he was a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic. He was honorably discharged in November 1969. After he left the service he worked for Highway Services road construction, where he ran the cement saw. He had many hobbies; hunting, fishing, camping, fixing cars and spending time with his family and friends. His biggest passion in life he was most known for was his collection of classic cars, many of which he fixed and/or rebuilt himself or with his brothers, sons, nephews Jerry and Donny Hanson, or brother-in-law. He met his wife of fifty-five years, Joan Marie Fultz, whom he married on August 8th, 1970. They have three sons, Wayne James, Jamie Lee, and John Russell. He has seven grandchildren; Cody, Tyler, Katlynn, Allison, Hailee, Alexis, and Ariana Hanson. As well as four great-grandchildren; Emmet, Liam, Lucy, and Ella.
He is survived by his wife Joan, sons Wayne (Danielle), Jamie (Denise), and John Hanson. His sister Sharon Ramsrud and brother Steve Hanson. Along with all of his grandkids, great grandkids, and many nieces, nephews, cousins. His friends Byron Edavold, Junior Dahlke, Duffy Norlander, Bob Reynolds, Frank Bergeron, Larry Bellefy, Butch and many more.
He is preceded in death with his parents Alice and Clarence Hanson along with his siblings, Shirley Flukey, Lawrence Hanson, Roger Hanson, Rodney Hanson, Larry Hanson, and Sheryl Dahlke.
