Obituary for Donald Hince

Donald Allan Raymond Hince was born to Marie (Wicks) and Elmer Hince on Sept. 23, 1948. He was raised in Oklee, MN where he was baptized and confirmed at St. Francis Xavier church, and graduated from Oklee High School in 1966. He joined the US Army after graduation and was stationed in Germany, where he met the love of his life (his "Schatzi") Erika Martin. They were united in marriage in June of 1970 and had one son, Thorsten. For many years until his retirement, he and Erika worked in the hospitality industry, owning and operating Gasthofs (or guesthouses) which consist of a bar and restaurant with sleeping rooms/bathrooms for guests. His American family were blessed by his generosity while visiting him there. His trips back to the U.S. every few years were packed with visits to family and friends, and we will treasure his last visit to see us in Sept. of 2006. Don passed away in Germany on Jan 6, 2024 with his family by his side.
Don is survived by his wife Erika, son Thorsten and his wife Sabine, grandaughters Alina and Janika, and great grandson Ede. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Bonnie Roisland, Sherry Kankel, Joan Lien and Margaret Hince, and brother Bob Hince.
