Larry Newland

Larry Newland, age 78, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026, at his home just outside of Northfield with his family at his side. Larry was born on June 14, 1947, in Bagley, MN, the son of Monroe and Evelyn (Skjefte) Newland.

Larry was a hardworking and dedicated son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Mischievous at his core, Larry had a gentle loving spirit! He was a career firefighter in Grand Forks ND and Burnsville MN. He was also a rancher and tractor collector in retirement. He loved his family dearly and held a special place in his heart for animals and the outdoors.

Larry is survived by his son Kelly (Diana) Newland; daughter-in-law, Laura Newland; grandchildren, Christina Newland, Aaron Newland, Amy (Brad) Morgan and Cora Fluharty; great grandchildren Landen & Kailyn Crisp, Madilyn & Aubrey Schaaf, Hailey & Chase Newland and Ruby Morgan; sisters, Luanne (Bob) Herder, Susan (Warren) Wyman, and brother, Thomas (Suzie) Newland.

He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 60 years, Caryll; sons, Samuel, Jared, and Brett; great-granddaughter, Mabel.

A Celebration of Larry’s Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 19 at the Minnesota Valley Church, 16075 Hawthorn Path, Lakeville, MN with visitation held one hour prior to the funeral.

Further Celebration of Life for Larry will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, February 20 at the Rice Free Lutheran Church, 19292 210th St, Bagley, MN 56621. Visitation will be held for one hour prior from 11-12. Interment to be held at the Rice Free Lutheran Church Cemetery.
