Gloria Eileen Mathson
Gloria Eileen Mathson, age 86, of Delafield, Wisconsin, passed away surrounded by the love of her family.
Gloria was born on May 23, 1940, to Oscar and Gertrude (Kolsus) Anderson. She was raised in the Trail and Gonvick area, where she attended school and graduated from Gonvick High School. Of Norwegian heritage, Gloria was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, a faith that remained an important part of her life.
On her life's journey, Gloria married LuVerne Mathson, and together they built a loving home and family. They were blessed with five children: Anita, LuWayne, Luann, Laurie, and Jay. Gloria devoted herself to being a full-time mother, lovingly raising her children while also assisting with the family's auctioneer business. Her greatest joy came from caring for her family, attending the activities and milestones of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and supporting those she loved.
Gloria will be lovingly remembered by her children, Anita (Greg) Domino, LuWayne (Mandy) Mathson, Luann (Forrest) Larson, Laurie (Tom) McDonald, and Jay (Krista) Mathson; 11 grandchildren to include (Anita) Ryan, Kristin, (Wayne) Luke, Aaron (LuAnn) Jacob, Megan, (Laurie) Nick, Amber, (Jay) Austin, Dustin, and Brock; 8 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Gary (Arlene) Anderson. She was blessed with a large and loving family who will cherish her memory for years to come.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luverne Mathson; her parents, Oscar and Gertrude Anderson; her brothers, Stanford Anderson; and baby Anderson.
Gloria's gentle spirit, unwavering devotion to her family, and strong Lutheran faith will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many lives she touched throughout the years.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 AM on Friday, July 31, 2026 at Salem Lutheran Church in Oklee with SAM Lindi Christianson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will follow the service at the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery.
