Darren David Madsen

Darren David Madsen, 59, of Belgrade, MT, passed away peacefully on June 5 with family at his side.

Darren was born on June 21, 1966 in Denver, Colorado to Linda Berg. His family moved from Colorado to Minnesota in 1976. In 1980, Linda married Daniel Berg, who gained a 14 year old son. Daniel taught Darren how to farm, and encouraged his love of hunting, trapping, and fishing.

In addition to his outdoor pursuits, Darren enjoyed varsity basketball and track. He graduated from Clearbrook High School in 1984.

He married his first wife and high school sweetheart Lisa in 1986, who died suddenly in 1998.

He met his second wife, Denise, in April 1999, and fell head over heels for her. He moved to Montana shortly thereafter, and they married on April 22, 2000. They welcomed their daughter, Raelyn, on June 9, 2006.

Darren spent the early years of his career operating heavy equipment and trucking for gravel companies. After moving to Montana, he learned the building trade and started his own contracting company, Summit Builders. He built, remodeled and repaired many homes in the Gallatin Valley.

Darren will be remembered most for his loving and generous spirit, willing to help anyone in need, from the simple act of holding a door to helping someone change a tire on the side of the road. He was a jokester, known for his sarcastic wit and easy smile. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting in the mountains, fishing at Fort Peck, snowmobiling, and simple tasks like tending his raspberry patch in the summer. He was a cherished husband, father, son, brother and friend to many.

Darren is survived by his wife Denise, daughter Raelyn (Avery) Hoag; mother Linda Berg; brother Dane (Wendy) Madsen; sisters Elizabeth (Tracy) Berg and Rachel (Brent) Vesta, nieces Raya (Khy) Dickerson, Ahna and Jordyn.

A memorial service will be held at Dry Creek Bible Church, 8465 Dry Creek Rd in Belgrade MT, at 11 AM on June 13 2026. All are welcome. The service will also be livestreamed via the church website.
