Avis Sundbom, 84, of Clearbrook, Minnesota passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
Family and friends are invited to Celebrate the Life of Avis on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Bagley/Ebro, Minnesota with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Our Saviors Cemetery in Bagley, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to The American Cancer Society or Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.
Avis Naomi Peterson was born on August 28, 1941, in Creel Township, North Dakota, the daughter of August and Sophia (Bruers) Peterson. Throughout her life, Avis moved around a lot from Devils Lake, ND; Warwick, ND; Mentor, MN; Bagley, MN; and Clearbrook, MN. Faith was the foundation of Avis’s life from an early age. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith and carried those early lessons throughout her life by teaching Sunday School and Confirmation classes for 27 years.
On May 10, 1958, Avis married the love of her life, Harvey Sundbom at the Methodist Church in Ebro, Minnesota. Together they raise 3 children and farmed. Avis also worked as a Produce Manager for 43 years before retiring on May 1, 2019. She worked for 31 years at Hartz/Kubiak’s in Bagley, MN and 13 years at Palubick’s in Fosston, MN. Avis was an avid volunteer at 1st Care, and Bethany Home Health in Fosston, MN. She also did volunteer work for Hospice, Tuesday Homemaker Club, was a 4-H leader for many years and Thrivent President for Clearwater County.
She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Avis could often be found reading, crocheting, 4-wheeling, snow sledding, and gardening in her flower beds. Avis had a huge heart and enjoyed helping people wherever she could. She was driven by a passion to help others, especially working and teaching young people at work, church, and 4-H. Avis will be remembered for her warmth, quiet strength, and devotion to her family.
Avis is survived by her son-Ray (Lori) Sundbom of Clearbrook, MN.
Daughter-Kim (Mike) Trudeau of Akeley, MN.
Granddaughters-Nicole (Wade), Megan (Eric), Carin, Alyssa (Jamin), Kayla (Lee), and Jessica (Andrew). Grandson- Tyler and 14-Great Grandchildren.

Sister-Junette (Gary) Crain and Brother Paul (Debbie) Peterson
Along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harvey; son Kevin; and siblings, Inez, Eldora, Gale, Paula, Ellen, Don, Gay, Gordon, John, James, Herman, and David.
