Gonvick City Council May 7
Gonvick City Council met in regular session on May 7. The minutes were approved from the April 8 meeting.
Adam Gunderson, announced to the council that he was running for Clearwater County Sheriff and he wanted to introduce himself. He is working in the Bagley Police Department at the present time and he would be willing to stay after the meeting to answer any questions that they might have.
LeRoy Sundquist, Commander of the Gonvick American Legion wanted to know if the city was planning anything special for the 250th celebration. He was willing to help in any way that he could. They did not have plans as the annual rodeo would be held the next weekend and that had several events each year. Devin Aakre was going to see if the Jubilee Committee had any plans. Andela Paulson was also there and they will see what they could do for that day.
Devin Aakre presented a proposal from the City of Fisher for a hockey rink and zamboni. The complete package for $4,000. They wanted to get rid of it as they were getting a new one. The city of Erskine had priority to purchase. The council approved the purchase with funds from the Parks designated fund.
Ryan Solee, Police Report was given with 7 records for the month of April. They included 911 Hang up 1; Animal Related 1; Information Only 1; Noise Complaint 1; Suspicious Activity 1 and Welfare Check, Domestic 1.
Fire department report with only one medical. The appreciation dinner was lower in attendance than last year with so many events going on. The meeting that they had for area fire departments had great attendance.
There was not any more to report on the old City Hall building other than Kyle Langfeld, son of the owner of the building who had passed away was there to inspect what was in the building.
Angela Paulson, owner of The Trap had a request for a loan from the Commercial Revolving loan that the city has maintained for many years. The council approved a $15,000 loan to help purchase a new outside cooler and to redo the old flat roof on the older part of the building,
Election judges for the August 11 precinct and November 3 General Election. They included Stacy Sather, Eileen Lien, Cheryl Mollin and Carol Peterson.
Resolution 26-03 for approve donations included: $100 from Samhold Lutheran Church for Beautification; $1,300 from the Gonvick Diamond Jubilee for Beatification; $250 from Farm Check Services for fire equipment for Lucas machine; $1000 from McIntosh Fire Department for Lucas machine; $25,225.70 from Clearwater County Treasurer for Opioid Fire Equipment settlement; $200 from Jeff Olson towards fire equipment on the Lucas machine; $1000 from Pine Lake Wild Rice for Fire equipment; $500 from Five Star Motor Sprots for Fire equipment and $600 from Gonvick Diamond Jubilee for Plant Raffle for pumpkin day fundraiser.
Bills were paid with $17,364.79 for General, $4,559.27 for Water and Sewer and Fire $6,584.56 for a total of $28,508.62.
