Gonvick Lions Club April 15
The Gonvick Lions Club met at Sportsman’s Lodge on Wednesday, April 15. They are getting ready for the 35th annual rodeo that they have sponsored. Trey is coming back as announcer again this year and there will be a clown. They are looking at different ideas during the event. Letters will be sent out to sponsors this coming week.
Ditch cleaning will be done this year with the baseball team from the Clearbrook-Gonvick School. They are raising money to attend a baseball game of the St. Paul Saints. Leah Watne is the activities director at the school and that group was willing to do the job.
Two Lions members went to Grand Forks to pick up another aluminum handicapped ramp that the Lions Club takes out for area people to use.
The scholarship committee will be going over the applications after the May 4 deadline at the school. Several awards are given each year both to those attending a 4 year or 2-year school or trade school.
The Club donated the medical donation and a basket to be auctioned off at the benefit for Matt Olson and another donation and basket to Lindy Caspers benefit that will be held on Sunday, May 3 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Bagley High School Gym.
The Lions Club split the cost for the senior photo banners that will be put outside the school on graduation day for the 30 seniors. The share was $750.
The Lions Club will be sponsoring the blood drive in Gonvick on Tuesday, June 2. Contact Shari Solberg at 217-533-3352 or Norma Erickson at 218-280-3973.
