The Granlund Lodge #240 March Meeting

The Granlund Lodge #240 of the Sons of Norway will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday afternoon, March 12, at 2:00, at the Embassy Center in Fosston on the corner of 3rd and Eaton Ave.  After the meeting and light refreshment, the program will begin at approximately 3:00 pm and features Faye Auchenpaugh from Thief River Falls.  Faye will share the story of what is considered to be the first organized emigration from Norway to the U.S , aboard the sloop, Restauration. This small vessel took off from Stavanger (Stav-ung'-er) Norway on July 4, 1825, with 52 people aboard, many of them Norwegian Quakers.  Faye tells the story about this daring voyage that took place  200 years ago.  As always the meeting and program are open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend.
