The Gonvick City Council met in regular session on Thursday, February 12, 2026. The minutes of the January 8meeting were approved.
No report from Ryan Solee this month.
Gonvick Fire Chief Cody Rude gave his report for the past month. They had 4 medical calls with 1 cancelled in route, I van in ditch, 1 meeting, 1 work night, 1 training night with the training topic the pump operation.
The department will be having training with blue fire training for the initial EMR . That will be the last two weekends in February 20 hours each.
The department will be hosting the Regional meeting at the fire hall on April 9th. Many fire departments from the region will be present, a banquet will be served and there will be special speakers.
The fire department will be hosting the annual township meeting on February 24 at the Gonvick Legion for all townships in the fire district.
Maintenance issues with streetlights being discussed. There are 70 streetlights working at the time. Members will be out looking to see if they will need to add any new ones.
The Water Fund CD 18574 for $23,776.79 for a renewal at 3.5% for 13 months.
Discussion on the old Vandy’s lot was held. They will ask the city attorney to get started on a proposal for selling with conditions and requirements for the use of the concrete slab. Opening bid starting at $5,000 with stipulation that there must be a store front business or office space within 5 years or it reverts to the city.
A commercial Loan Inquiry was made and yes there is money for that if needed. They would have to present a proposal if they wanted to proceed.
Expenditures were approved with $3,007.59 for Water and Sewer; $27,010.03 for General and $2,302.76 for fire for a total of $32,320.38.
The next council meeting will be April 8 at 5:00 p.m. as the Fire Department meeting is on April 9.
