Pine Lake near Gonvick, MN
Notice to Operate Aeration System
An aeration system creating thin ice and open water shall be in operation on the Northeast portion of Pine Lake near the public access. This site is located in the SW¼ Section 22, Pine Lake Township, Clearwater County.
Please use caution as open water and thin ice conditions can fluctuate greatly. Stay clear of marked area!

January 26 – Clearbrook-Gonvick School Board at 7:00 p.m.
January 31 – Clearbrook-Gonvick School Winter Formal from 8 to 11 for grades 7 to 12. Airpods and gits cards to some lucky winners.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is waiving vehicle permit fees at all 73 state parks and recreation areas on Monday, Jan. 19. This Free Park Day is one of four days each year on which visitors don’t need a vehicle permit at state parks and recreation areas. The DNR offers one-free day in each season, giving Minnesotans an opportunity to experience the parks at different times of year.
Free days for Minnesota state parks and recreation areas in 2026 are:

- Saturday, June 13
- Friday, Nov. 27
February 6, February's Friday Night Out is featuring FRENCH CUISINE at Clear Waters Life Center in Gonvick. Come out for a fabulous meal and enjoy yourself. RSVP to Clearwaterslife.org
February 7, Saturday 2026 the Pathfinders Snowmobile Club will be having a family ride safari. They will leave the Spot Bar & Grill at 1::00 p.m. from Red Lake Falls. There will be cash drawings, awesome prizes and auction items. A cash drawing will be at 9:00 p.m. You do not need to be present to win.
February 15, there will be Youth Night at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clearbrook They will be showing the movie Titans at 5:00 p.m. to those 3rd grade and up.

Nominations Sought for 2026 First Lady
The 2026 Clearwater County First Lady will be held on April 11 at the Bagley American Legion Auditorium. The Bagley Auxiliary will be co-hosting the event.
Your help is needed to select the 2026 recipient. If you know a woman who should be considered for the award, please send a letter with her name and include your reasons for her nomination- this can include any accomplishments in her life such as her career highlights or volunteer years of service and other characteristics that you think should be considered. First Lady nominees must currently live in Clearwater County and be able to attend the event on April 11. Nominations of women of all ages are encouraged.

Halverson will not seek re-election
Sheriff Darin Halverson has decided not to seek re-election for a fourth term as Clearwater County Sheriff this fall. He has dedicated the past 34 years to serving the people of Clearwater County, beginning as a part-time officer with the Clearbrook Police Department, then serving as a K9 officer and Police Chief in Bagley, and ultimately as Sheriff of Clearwater County for the past 11 years. He has also been a DARE Officer for 20 years.

Congratulations on winning the spelling bee at the Clearbrook-Gonvick School. Jammar Weems, Hunter Dahlke, Brayden Needham . Frosty Days in Fosston
They will be having Frosty Days in Fosston on Friday January 30 and Saturday January 31. They will be having specials at various business places.

New minister at Faith Lutheran Church
Faith Lutheran Church in Bagley has a new minister. Rev. Tom Mantie is replacing Pastor Mark Olson. He and his wife Janet are from Cheboygan, Michigan. They served parishes in North Dakota before taking a break and moving back to Michigan. They have three grown children living in Fergus Falls, Moorhead and Grand Forks and they are glad to be closer to them.

Ole told Sven that he thought getting old was a terrible thing. He blacked out for 20 minutes until he realized that he had put his hooddie on backwards.
