Spelling Bee held at Clearbrook-Gonvick School

The district spelling bee took place on Tuesday, January 20, in the Clearbrook-Gonvick school gym, bringing together the top spellers from the district. Participants earned their spots by winning their classroom spelling bees in grades 5–8.

The eight students who competed in the event were Miyah Hardy-Martin (5), Sienna Brandt (5), Emma Chandler (6), Kyle Robinson (6), Aryelle Auginash (7), Hunter Dahlke (7), Brayden Needham (8), and Jammarr Weems (8). The bee challenged spellers through 14 rounds of increasingly difficult words. The competition concluded with the winning word, “receptionist.”

The winners were Brayden Needham, third place-$25, Hunter Dahlke, second place-$50,  and Jammarr Weems, first place- $100.

Jammarr Weems will advance to the regional spelling bee on February 4, 2026, at Northland Community and Technical College. Top finishers at the regional level will have the opportunity to advance to the national spelling bee in Washington, D.C.
