Private Services for Cleo Lohse

Cleo “Ann” Lohse, 81, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Monday, October 12, 2015 at her home in Grand Forks.   

Cleo Ann Rosenbalm was born March 22, 1934 in Sigourney, IA the daughter of Forest Nimrod and Velma Barbara (Bruns) Rosenbalm.   As a young girl, she moved with her family to San Francisco, graduating from Commerce High School.  Ann married James Roger Lohse on March 21, 1953 in San Francisco and moved to his hometown of Elbow Lake, MN.  In addition to being the office manager for Jim’s Well Drilling, she was employed as the office manager for the Strand Insurance Agency in Elbow Lake.  She moved to Northern Minnesota living first in Gully, MN and then McIntosh, MN.  Ann was the City Clerk and Treasurer for McIntosh, MN for 18 years.  Her organizational skills and ability to work with city and state officials helped the city make significant improvements in public works, parks, and technology.  She loved to cook, garden, care for her home and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  Whatever project Ann was involved with was improved by her special touch and attention.  She spent several winters working on her family genealogy enabling her to trace ancestors back several generations. We will greatly miss her spark for life, her smile, sharing of ideas, recipes, and having coffee in person or over Skype. 

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Donald Fischman) Lohse of Rochester, NY, Pauly (Bill) Palmiscno of Grand Forks, ND, Sharon (Terry) Schindler of Lincoln, NE; 6 grandchildren, Colter Bayard, Renée (Dan) Nguyen, Peter (Jessica) Palmiscno, Toby (Jenna) Palmiscno, Sonja (Trevor) Kalkwarf, Samantha (Brett) Boldra and 6 great-grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister and 2 brothers. 

Memorial service:   A private family memorial service will be held.
