Festival of Trees at History Center

Clearwater Co. Historical Society opens Festival of Trees December 2.

The 2025 Festival of Trees will begin on Tuesday December 2 at The History Center in Shevlin.

Organizations, businesses, families and individuals have set up more than 30 trees for visitors to enjoy. There are also several holiday displays including a Nutcracker collection, old-fashioned baking items, and several beautiful decorative tree collections.

Admission is free; however, visitors are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the food shelf.  Ballots to vote for your favorite tree can be purchased for $1.00 or with a food shelf donation; the winning tree will get bragging rights for the next year. Last year’s winner was the Our Savior’s Church in Leonard.

Special events are planned for weekends in December beginning with a porch pot class on Sunday Dec. 7 (fee charged)

On Saturday December 13 Kids are invited to stop by before or after they visit Santa in Shevlin, to do a small craft. (free)

On Sunday December 14, the tree “decorators” are invited to come to the museum to talk about their organizations, describe their trees or displays and meet with visitors.  Visitors will also experience “A Taste of Christmas” with several traditional and not so traditional treat demonstrations and samples offered.

The Community Choir will be at the center on Friday December 19 at 6:15 and Santa will appear on Sunday Dec. 21 at 1:30.

The Festival of Trees will be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays 1:00- 4:00 and Fridays from 1:00- 7:00, Saturdays 10:00- 4:00 and Sundays 12:00- 4:00. The festival will close on December 21. The museum is closed Mondays.

Every day the coffee is on, treats are set out and the hot chocolate bar is open.
