November 4 is an important voting day
Voters in School District 2311, Clearbrook-Gonvick will be voting on November 4, 2025 for a school bond referendum. Cost will be 34.9 million dollars before the bonds are sold and then the interest will be added to that number.
All polling will be done at the Clearbrook Community Center.
The plan will include: Additional classroom space, new gym, new secure entrance, new roof, Renovated common areas and restrooms.
The diagram shows the shaded areas with lines though it would be the new part of the school building project. That would include a large gym that could be divided into two parts with seating for 900, addition to the shop area, fitness room with extra office space and other new spaces on the west end of the building. The east end would be the new classroom spaces.
The grey parts are changes that will be made in the present area.
The light part is the present two gyms, the classrooms and lunchroom that would not be changed.
Judges named were Lucie Thompson, Head Election Judge with Gary Prosser, Joy Walberg, Jessica Solee (King), Linda Nordlund, Eileen Lien, Sheryll Petterson, Lori Larson, Nancy Thorson, Stephanie Anderson and Bonnie Engen.

Fish fry Saturday
The Gonvick Legion members will be serving their monthly fish fry on Saturday, November 8 from 5 to 7. Walleye the way to like it.
Veterans Day Program
Clearbrook-Gonvick School to Host Veterans
Day Program on November 11th
The Clearbrook-Gonvick School will honor our nation’s veterans with a special Veterans Day program on Tuesday, November 11, at 10:00 a.m. in the school gymnasium. The community is invited to attend and join in recognizing the service and sacrifice of the men and women who have served our country.
The program will feature student performances, readings, and presentations to pay tribute to local veterans. In partnership with the Gonvick American Legion Post #304, the event provides a meaningful opportunity for students and community members alike to express gratitude to those who have defended our freedoms.
Following the ceremony, veterans are invited to stay for a complimentary lunch, hosted by the school. All guests are welcome to gather afterward for coffee and doughnuts in appreciation of the day’s honored guests.
The Clearbrook-Gonvick School extends heartfelt thanks to all veterans and hopes the community will join in celebrating and remembering their service on this important day.

November 20 and 21. Mrs. Hegg and her Clearbrook-Gonvick first grade class will be putting on Famous Explorers from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. They do a great job with their assignments.
Events coming up
Lund Lutheran Church in Gully will be holding their annual Hunters supper Saturday, November 8 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gully Community Center. Ham, Homemade Hotdish with all the fixings. Cash prizes of $100, $50 and $25. Silent Auction, Fall Market, Bake Sale and Basket Raffle.

Bagley Library update
Join the Bagley Public Library's Book Club for a discussion of Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman is a story centered on Eleanor, a social misfit with a traumatic past, following her journey from isolation to connection with the people and the world around her. The Book Club's discussion is scheduled Friday, November 7 at 1 p.m. at the Bagley Public Library.
The Bagley Public Library is located at 79 Spencer Ave. and is open from 1-7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursday, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays and from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturdays.
Historical Society fall bake sale
The Clearwater County Historical Society will be having their fall bake sale and Used books and crafts by Sue and Roxane on Saturday, November 15. It will be at eh Bagley American Legion with the sale starting at 9:00 a.m. until 1:00. Coffee pot on all day with fresh caramel rolls.
Klub lunch served 11:00 with ham and scalloped potatoes until it is gone. Free will offering. If you need more information call 218-785-2000.
Santa and Mrs. Claus in Gonvick
Santa Claus Day is coming to Gonvick Friday, December 5, 2025. They will have a breathtaking tree lighting on Main Street, a word from Pastor Will, Christmas carols and free hot chocolate. Following the lighting and carols, head over to the Gonvick Legion for a bonfire and s’mores, hot chocolate and soup, Mrs. Olson’s lefse bar, as well as horse drawn wagon rides. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand to visit with the kids and hand out yummy treat bags. Dress for a Minnesota winter and join the fun.
Festival of Trees
There will be a Festival of Trees from December 2 to 21 at the Clearwater County Historical Society. Special Open House Sunday, December 14 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Other days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 1:00 to 4:00. Friday from 1:00 to 7:00 and Saturday 1:00 to 4:00. Organizations, businesses and families will be decorating trees this year.
Flu shots offered
The Nursing Service office in Bagley will be offering flu and covid shots on Thursday afternoons from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Please call to schedule a time. 218-694-6581

Test scores low in reading
The ability to read by the end of third grade is a critical skill for a child’s success — not only for the remainder of his or her K-12 journey and later educational outcomes but for future career opportunities, earnings potential, and economic mobility.
Statewide, third-grade reading proficiency has been steadily declining for a number of years. Data from the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment reports nearly 54 percent of third graders aren’t meeting grade-level reading benchmarks.

Fundraising for music
The City of Clearbrook is currently fundraising to restore the music on Main Street in memory of Lloyd Engen. Lloyd Engen was a lifelong active resident of the Clearbrook community. He was an active member and volunteer in several local organizations in the community. Lloyd was one of the individuals instrumental in starting the music on Main Street. Lloyd was a founding member of the Clearbrook Community Club, a fireman and fire chief for several years for the Clearbrook Fire Department, an active member and Legion Commander for Clearbrook Legion Post #256, president of the Clearbrook-Leonard Senior Center, drove a medical minivan, volunteered at the food shelf and meals on wheel and instrumental in starting the Clearbrook Babe Ruth baseball program. Lloyd worked many years for the City of Clearbrook, mowing the grass all around Clearbrook. Lloyd was also selected as the Clearwater County Outstanding Citizen. One of Lloyd’s greatest accomplishments was being a father to 7 children and grandfather to 23 children. You could always find Lloyd supporting his grandchildren at local school events.
Lloyd was a man know by all and loved by many. Up to the week prior to his passing, he was talking about how much he would like to hear the music on Main Street again. This is why we are fundraising in Lloyd’s memory. Donations can be made at the Clearbrook City office or look for donation jars at businesses in Clearbrook.
If all the funds are raised for the music cost, we will continue to collect donations to replace the trees on Main Street.
