The Clearbrook City Council had a busy meeting on Monday, September 8.
Ryan Grow, Superintendent at the Clearbrook-Gonvick School gave referendum information on the upcoming school bond issue to be voted on November 4. He gave safety, classroom and system concerns that will be addressed in the $34.9 million project. Total cost with interest is estimated to be $61,357,563.00. Early voting begins September 19. Steve Emery with WSN requested a change order for replacing existing conduit to top of water tower including boxes for the existing lights. That was approved for $7,500
He also requested a change order No. 6 to purchase an additional dehumidifier unit for the Water Treatment Plant. The council approved the order for $4,916.19.
Emery mentioned that there are still items that were not resolved by Reiserion who did the streets project. The trees on main street were to be replaced and half of them are dead. That needs to be taken care of.
Gary Prosser gave concerns about the music on main street and the trees that need to be replaced. Donations could be made in memory of Lloyd Engen to get the music back.
Ryan Solee, Police Chief gave his report with 37 calls for the month Lots of juvenile action. They will be offering a Youth Fire Arms Training Calls in connection with the Bagley Police through Community Education with Tiffany Kroulik.
The Fire Chief report from Adam Krog which included 13 reports for August with Medical 6; Meeting 1; Canceled in Route 2, (1 medical and 1 vehicle accident), Structure Fire 1, Training 1 and Vehicle Accident 2.The annual Fall Fundraising banquet has been set for Saturday, October 18, 2025 in the gym at the community center.
Karra Weems, Manager at the Municipal Liquor Store had $16,555.15 for her revenue report. They will also be setting up at the community center for the annual fire department banquet.
Utilities & Maintenance with Mark Snoble. The water supply is OK with the samples that were sent in. They burned the brush pile and it is piling up again. The pool has been closed for the season. They lost their part-time worker for the city and wondered if a third person could be found. Duties, hours and salary would be looked at for a future meeting.
City Clerk Lucie Thompson had two applications for payment. For BRZ Coatings Inc for $172,092.50 for Pay application #2 for the Water tower and Rubin Construction Pay Applications #14 for Water Treatment Plant for $13,220.58
The new auditor for the City of Clearbrook was approved with CliftonLarsonAllen for $50,000 for the first year to set up and get the audits done. Also get the LGA that has not been received.
The resolution for the preliminary property tax levy for 2026 was tabled and the council will meeting September 17 at 7:30 to set the rate. Last year it was set at $275,000 for the city.
The council approved the donation from the City of Bemidi to the City of Clearbrook Fire Department in the amount of $8.060.00 for their aid after the Storm that hit Bemidji.
Monthly claims were paid for $42,577.15 and Additional Claims of $451,593.93.
