City of Clearbrook awarded grant

 

The City of Clearbrook has been awarded an Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) in the amount of $34,667. Pat Conroy and Jordan Lee, Funding Specialists with Widseth Smith Nolting (WSN), helped the fire department with their grant application.

The grant will help the fire department purchase new personal protective equipment. The AFG funds will also provide basic equipment training that will help firefighters understand proper equipment use and care, which will extend the life of the air packs and other personal protective equipment and reinforce the safety of the firefighters.

A program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), grants are awarded to fire departments to enhance their ability to protect the public and fire service personnel from fire and related hazards. Three types of grants are available: Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG), Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grants (SAFER), and Fire Prevention and Safety Grants (FP&S).
