The Clearbrook City Council met in regular session on Monday, March 10
Ryan Solee gave his police report with 28 records. They included: 911 Hang Up 3; Alarm 1; Animal Related 1; Assist Other Agency 1; Crimes Against Family 1; Drug Related 1; Extra Patrol 2; Information Only 4; Juvenile Misc. 1; Medical 1; Mental Health 1; Motor Vehicle Crash 1; Suspicious Activity 1; Test 1; Traffic Stop 3; Vehicle Lock Out 2;, Welfare Check
Adam Krog, Fire Chief gave his report. They had 16 call si February with 9 Medical, 1 Annual Meeting; 1 Rescue; 3 Medical and 2 Training.
Beth Barnes has finished her six month probationary period and has been unanimously voted to become a full time member of the Clearbrook Fire Department on March 3, 2025.
The department received a $5000 grant from Flint Hills Resources. They will apply for an Enbridge grant. Enbridge sold some scrap metal they had and donated that money to area fire departments and food shelf. CFD received a check from Crow Wing Recycling for this in the amount of $5,105.00.
Karra Weems report from the Municipal Liquor Store was given. Income for the month was $20,000. The liquor store will be getting a new ATM machine. The council members talked about moving the old one to the community building. They wanted to know costs before they did that.
The ninth pay application for the Water Treatment Plant to Rubin Constriction was approved for $346,331.54. Steve Emery with Widseth gave his report on the water plant . The project is ahead of schedule.
The council approved four new change order items at the water treatment plant. One being the door to the chemical room to 36 inches instead of 30 inches.
Widseth had also been in contact with Onyx, the contractor for the water tower project. The city has paid Onyx for work that has been done but it is not completed. That company should have to pay the subcontractors and then declare Onyx in breach of contract. They would be able to hire another contractor to come in and complete the project on painting the inside and outside of the water tower.
Bids were given from Dan Platow for remodeling the Women's bathroom and the Hallway a the Community Center. Cost was given at $38,600 for the bathroom and $38,400 for the hallway. Work would include removing of commodes, sinks and fixtures from the walls and replace. Take up existing floor tile and base. Change all exposed tubing with updated Pex tubing. Remove and replace drop down ceiling with new.
Hallway would include removing existing carpet, vct and cove base and have new porcelain tile throughout.
The members in attendance wanted to ahead with the women's bathroom project but to get input of the two missing members at the next meeting before a vote would be taken.
The former Thrifty White space has been for sale on main street. The owner Laura Adams wanted to know if there were any zoning restrictions that would not allow her to remodel the building into apartments. There is now one apartment. and a beauty salon in the building.
Resolution 2025-07 for donations to the city were approved. They included $5,000.000 from Northwest Minnesota Foundation for Life Skills for Girls 2025 grant and $525.00 from Clearbrook Community Club for Youth Basketball and Youth Babysitting Classes.
Claims for the month were approved with Monthly Claims at $784,912.45 and Additional Claims at $121,412.10.
The next council meeting was set for Monday, April 14 at 7 p.m.
