Steve Emery with Widseth updated the council on the water treatment plant progress. They are doing the inside work such as electrical work and ceiling insulation. The painter had been there. Things have been measured and the rest is ordered that is needed. They are waiting on the outside for nice weather. They estimated being done on time.
He informed them that a certified letter had been sent out to Onyx, the contractor in charge of the water tower painting on January 22, 2025. They are declaring a default on the contractor with the performance bond and payment bond. The resolutions and letters were drafted by the City Attorney Stephen Larson.
City Maintenance Mark Snobl informed the council on the extra electric power to the Roxy for the All-School Reunion. They needed to get another quote to satisfy power for both the outlets for vendors and the Roxy. He had spoken to Tommy at Clearbrook Electric to get another bid.
The #8 Pay application to Rubin Construction for the Water Treatment Plant of $259,853.50 was approved. Balance to finish from the original contract price of $3,490,000.00 including retainage is $950,492.70.
The police report from Ryan Solee was given. That include 29 records with 911 Hang Up 1; Assist 1; Burglary 1; Disturbance 1; Domestic, Medical 1; Information Only 1; Medical 5; Motorist Assist 1; Motor Vehicle Crash 1; Suspicious Activity 4; Test 4; Theft 3; Traffic Stop 2; vehicle Off Road, Juvenile Misc. 1 and Welfare Check 2.
Adam Krog, Clearbrook Fire Department chief report included 15 January calls with 8 Medical; 1 Meeting; 1 Chimney Fire; 4 that were canceled in route, Medical 3 and Hazmat 1 and 1 Training/Work Night.
His report also included 155 total calls for 2024. They were: special Events Fish Fry and Fall Fund raiser 2; Rescue 1; Work Night 7; Vehicle Fire 3; Meetings 12; Grass Fire 12; vehicle Accident 9 Training 8; Structure Fire 9; Medical 90 and 2 were canceled in route.
The 2025 annual meeting with the townships was held on February 3, 2025 in the Legion room at the Community Center. CFD members cooked and served a meal of hamburgers (donated by Anderson Farms).Chips, beans and cookies were enjoyed by all in attendance. Representatives from Eddy, Holst, Dudley and Greenwood Townships were in attendance along with City Clerk Lucie Thompson and Mayor Dylan Goudge. The township fire contracts for 2025 will increase by 3%.
The 3% increase for each township: Clover $2,447.55; Dudley $6,960.53; Eddy $6,066.02; Greenwood $1,777.65; Holst $12,026.86; Leon $33,136.47; Pine Lake $1,469.44; Sinclair $5,642.30; Leonard $365.59, Clearbrook $3,919.86 for a total of $73,802.28. Some townships have shared districts with Gonvick Fire Department.
Karra Weems Manager at the Municipal Liquor Store had some big bills to pay this month. They paid off the bathroom remodel for $25,800.00, Liquor Liability Insurance $4,301.00 and Work Comp Insurance $3,695.68. They will have the year end dart tournament on Saturday February 22. The all school reunion bingo and meat raffle fund raiser will be Saturday, March 1. January and February have been the busiest with any events.
City Clerk Lucie Thompson told the council that a $6,000 grant had been received for the summer youth classes and the play that will be put on during the All-School Reunion.
She is still working on an auditor and she has her year end reports and all the W2's done for the year.
Resolution 2025-06 was approved for donations for the month: Purchases by the city of Clearbrook for the Fire Department $25,963.44; Sales of Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears Tumblers for the Clearbrook Community Pool $80.00; Bingo and Meal Fundraiser of $1,374.00 for the Clearbrook-Gonvick All School Reunion 2025 and $6,050.00 donations and sponsorships for the 2025 Clearbrook-Gonvick All School Reunion.
Monthly claims were approved with $31,877.10 and Additional Claims of $330,618,10.
