Duane Falardeau passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Homestead Rehab & Living Center in Deer River, MN at the age of 82.
Born June 9, 1942, in Grand Rapids, the son of Leo and Esther Falardeau. Duane spent his formative years in Coleraine, where he graduated from Greenway High School. He pursued higher education at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, earning a bachelor’s degree in education and later a master’s degree from University of Wisconsin-Superior for counseling. His teaching career began in Finlayson but dedicated most of his professional life to Greenway High School, where he served for 31 years before retiring.
On August 31, 2013, Duane was united in marriage with Shirley Beckstrand at the Salem Lutheran Brethren Church in Grand Rapids.
Duane cherished his time spent in the great outdoors, where he found great joy in hunting and shared many memorable moments with his beloved Springer Spaniels by his side. Duane had a passion for antiques and loved discovering new places to find unique treasures.
Duane is survived by his loving wife Shirley; daughter Michele (Kim) Falardeau; sons: Troy (Stan) Falardeau, Todd (Megan) Falardeau, and Craig (Rachel) Miskovich; 7 stepchildren: Verine (Rodney) Nordlund, Ross (Steph) Beckstrand, Tim (Lisa) Beckstrand, Bob (Steph) Beckstrand, Jamie (Dean) Hamnes; 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; 24 step-grandchildren; sister Cherie (Tom) Schwartz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Thomas.
In accordance with his wishes, no formal funeral services will be held.
Arrangements are with the Rowe Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Grand Rapids, MN.
