Archaeology in Clearwater County

Local Archaeologists to present "Archaeology in Clearwater County: An overview of the prehistoric and historic sites that have been studied in Clearwater County"

On Sunday September 20 at 1pm at the History Center in Shevlin, local historians and archaeologists Mark and Tamara Edevold will give an overview of the prehistoric and historic sites that have been studied in Clearwater County. The program is free.

From the Long Lost Lake site to the Herberg Mounds to the ghost town of Mallard, there are many sites in Clearwater County that have been studied by scholars over the years. Several are listed on the National Registry of Historic sites and others are known only locally. Mark and Tamara will describe the sites, the artifacts found and what the research tells us about the early prehistory and history of our county. The program is free and open to the public.

Mark Edevold holds a Masters Degree in Anthropology from the University of Iowa, Iowa City and Tamara has a BA in History from Minnesota State University, Moorhead and is the current executive director of the Clearwater County Historical Society.
