Services for Alice Effie Ramsrud

Alice Effie Ramsrud, 101, of Bagley, Minnesota died on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center in Bemidji, Minnesota.

Services will be held at a later date and time in the spring. Interment will be held at Nora Township Cemetery in Bagley, Minnesota. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.

Alice was born on June 1, 1922 near Berner, Minnesota and was adopted to Albert and Gudo Olson. She was raised North of Bagley, MN and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. She attended the local country school and then helped Bennie Oien with his farm and children after his wife had passed away.   

In 1941, Alice married Bennie Ramsrud. After Bennie’s military service, they purchased a home south of Bagley where they raised their children and farmed. In 1963 they sold the farm and moved the family to California where they resided until they moved back to Bagley in 1979.

Alice was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Irvin Blix Post No. 16 of Bagley, MN as well as helping the Ladies Aide at Bethel Lutheran Church. She was an avid recipe collector and made the most delicious meatballs, potatoes, and gravy. She loved being at home with her family, especially visiting over coffee and her wonderful baked goods. Alice also enjoyed traveling to visit her daughter, Janet, spending many winters with her taking trips and doing many fun things together. Alice was always there for her family, helping in any way she could, especially rooting them on at sporting events and other activities.

Alice is survived by her sons, Roger (Mary) Ramsrud, Kevin Ramsrud, and Brian (Susan) Ramsrud; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Ramsrud; 10 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and 9 great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and other family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Ramsrud; her parents, Albert and Gudo Olson; her children, Bennie Ramsrud, Jr., Janet Storm, and Myrna Ramsrud; and her siblings, Ruth Rhode, Avis Sandland, August Olson, Olaf Olson, and Clarence Olson.
