Arlene E. (Ward) Horn, 94, of Gonvick, Minnesota died on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead, Minnesota.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 16, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at United Lutheran Church in Berner, Minnesota with Pastor Mike Sletto officiating, A visitation one hour prior to the services at the church. An evening of visitation will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bagley, MN from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30. The interment will be held at United Lutheran Cemetery in Berner, Minnesota. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.
Arlene was born on April 14, 1929, in Casper, Wyoming to Herbert and Hannah (Solwold) Ward. She was baptized, confirmed and graduated from High School in Caper, Wyoming. Arlene worked for a telephone office in Wyoming where she met the love of her life, Francis Horn. The couple were married on April 29, 1949, in Harrison County, Nebraska. Arlene and Francis moved to a farm north of Gonvick. Arlene worked at Artic Cat and at the Lefse Plant. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, but the most important part of her life was reading the bible and spending time with the Lord. Arlene enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, she was an artist at heart. She had a passion for drawing, painting, bird watching, gardening, and was an awesome cook. Arlene was a quiet and caring person who was loved by everybody and was always willing to help when anyone asked her to.
Arlene is survived by her children, Dale Behrens of Robbinsdale, MN, David (Debra) Horn of Rochester, MN, Bonnie (Vern) Shellito of Moorhead, MN, Sherry Carr of Mattoon, IL, Terry (Sheila) Horn of Gonvick, MN, and Randy (Julie) Horn of Gonvick, MN; her grandchildren, Heidi, Katherine, Jane, Danielle, Stacy, Kelly, Cindy, Teresa, Tracy, Gaberile, Jean, Jodi, Jackie, Nathan, Jason, Jeffrey, Ryan, Aaron, and Austin; and 31 great and 5 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis Horn; her son-in-law, Chad Behrens; her grandchildren, Neil Horn and Heather Behrens; and her siblings, Audrey Schwartz and Herbert (Shirley) Ward.
