Clearbrook-Gonvick High school graduation held May 27

Graduation was held for 27 Clearbrook-Gonvick graduates on Saturday, May 27. The commencement address was given by former teacher Ross Faldet.  He was honored to be back to see the class. He was the industrial technology teacher and girls basketball coach. During the last year he was a coach at Loras College in Iowa with the Duhawks. He has been busy as he bought the old school house in Trail. He and his wife are anxious to have the 1913 come to life. He urged the seniors to take advantage of their school years. To rely on your support group  and never give up your plans. The relationships that you have made that give our lives meaning and fulfillment.

Valedictorian address by Dawson Quern and Salutatorian address by Logan Westrum. Hailee Hanson welcomed those in attendance for the graduation. Elizabeth Eckman had many class memories to share about the Class of 2023.

Announcements were made with the scholarships that were awarded to the Class of 2023. Over $70,000 was given locally and a total of $215,500 was given by colleges for the four year period.

Julianne Lavin received the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities Dave Larson Compact Scholarship worth $21,500 over four years.

Kjerski Snyder received the Luther College Presidential Scholarship, Legacy Music Scholarship ($5,000/year for four years).

Logan Westrum - UMD Best in Class ($24,000 over 4 years.)

Ty Dyrdahl - UMC Tuition paid for ($15,000/year $60,000 total)

Sarah Reichert - UMC Tuition paid for  ($15,000/year $60,000 total)

The Clearbrook-Gonvick class of 2023 had their scholarship awards night with over $70,000 given to students.

The Adam Isackson Memorial of $1,500 went to Elizabeth Eckman and Briana Sather.

$200 from the American Legion and Auxiliary was presented to Elizabeth Eckman, Juliane Lavin, Dawson Quern, Sarah Reichert , Briana Sather and Logan Westrum.

Dawson Quern received the $500 award from Border State Bank.

Bryan Jacobson Memorial award of $500 each went to Juliane Lavin, Elizabeth Eckman, Sarah Reichert, Dawson Quern and Logan Westrum.

$1000 from Charps went to Elizabeth Eckman and Sarah Reichert.

Clearbrook Community Club presented $500 each to Elizabeth Eckman, Juliane Lavin, Dawson Quern, Sarah Reichert, Briana Sather and Logan Westrum.

$2000 from Discovery to Juliane Lavin.

Briana Sather received $500 from Education Minnesota.

Hailee Hanson received $1000 from Essentia Health.

Glen and Iris Evans of $1,500 each to Elizabeth Eckman and Dawson Quern.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church awarded Logan Westrum $350.

$500 each from the Gonvick Lions Club/Hedin fund went to Elizabeth Eckman, Juliane Lavin, Dawson Quern, Sarah Reichert, Briana Sather, Logan Westrum.

Gustafson and Goudge presented $1000 each to Dawson Quern and Briana Sather.

Sarah Reichert received $3,000 from Fosston Tri-Coop.

Hank Lindsay scholarship of $500 went to Dawson Quern.

$1000 from Hard Times Bash went to Sarah Reichert and Logan Westrum.

$2000 from the John and Faye Hedin fund went to Sarah Reichert, Briana Sather and Logan Westrum.

Julianne Lavin and Dawson Quern each received $1,750 from the Mary Jo Klinger fund.

The Matthew Harmon Fallen Soldier $1,250 went to Elizabeth Eckman.

The Medtronic /William Johnson award of $1000 went to Julliane Lavin.

Julianne Lavin received the $500 from MSEA.

$500 Pepsi scholarships went each to Elizaeth Eckman, Hailee Hanson, Juliane Lavin, Dawson Quern, Sarah Reichert and Logan Westrum.

Richard Anderson award of $1000 each to Elizabeth Eckman and Sarah Reichert.

Avery Lavine received the $1,400 from Robin Norgaard Kelleher fund.

$500 each from Robson Honey went to Elizabeth Eckman, Juliane Lavin, Dawson Quern, Sarah Reichert, Briana Sather and Logan Westrum.

$1000 each from Samhold, Barness, Davids, Goldbloom to Trevor Anderson, Elizabeth Eckman, Hailee Hanson, Sarah Reichert and Briana Sather.

Hailee Hanson received $1000 from the Sawson Family.

Logan Westrum received $1,000 from TEAM Industries/Don Ricke.

The $10,000 Thorbeck Scholarship went to Logan Westrum.

Tom Pletschett scholarship of $500 went to Elizabeth Eckman.

Juliane Lavin received the $400 Tuesday Study Club award.

 The Vernon Pick Foundation Scholarship of $2,500 went to Juliane Lavin.
