Services for Gordon Allen Solberg

Gordon Allen Solberg, 85, of Leonard, Minnesota died on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at his home in Clover Township with family by his side. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Leonard, Minnesota with a visitation one hour prior. A private interment will be held Clover Township Cemetery at a later date. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements. 

Gordon was born on March 5, 1938 to Art and Alma (Engebretson) Solberg in Eddy Township, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. He went to country school until the 8th grade, then he attended Clearbrook High School, graduating with the class of 1956. After graduating, Gordon worked on the Iron Range, and in North Dakota, before moving to Minneapolis to work at the Coast to Coast Warehouse. He married Virginia Olson on June 14, 1958. To this union was born three children, Jeff, Kevin, and Joni. A chance to buy a Coast to Coast Store came up in Bagley, and the family moved to Clearbrook and ran the store from 1970 to 1976. Gordon then sold the store and bought a garbage business. After some life changes, Gordon met the love of his life, Donna Halvorson in 1987. They were married in 1990 and Gordon was blessed with the addition of the Halvorson kids, Sheree, Mike, Shelley, Tracy, Randy, and Brian. 

Gordy loved to hunt, especially deer and partridge in his younger years, and drive about and check on the locals.

Gordy knew so many people throughout the Clearwater County communities, over his years of driving around the countryside, through the years of selling guns at the hardware store and being head of Gonvick City Maintenance and Sewer Management.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Solberg; his children, Jeff(Shari) Solberg, Kevin Solberg, and Joni (Rod) Twito, Sheree (Dean) Sunderland, Shelley (Pat) Halloran, Tracy (Randy) Maple, and Randy (Laura) Halvorson; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Alma Solberg; his infant brother, Edmund; his siblings, Ray Solberg, Carol Lindgren, and Arlene Bergman; and his sons, Mike Halvorson and Brian Halvorson.
