Services for Lorretta Hromidko
Lorretta Hromidko, 95, of Bagley, Minnesota died on Monday, April 3, 2023, at Essentia First Care Living Center in Fosston, Minnesota.
Services will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bagley with Father JohnMelkies Sulvakeen officiating. Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 13, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Bagley, Minnesota. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.
Lorretta Kathryn Hromidko was born on August 24, 1927, the daughter of Edward and Hannah Heinecke. She attended Shevlin Country School and Clearbrook High School. In her early years, she worked at the grocery store in Shevlin, The Hartz Store, and Red Owl. On November 6, 1946, Lorretta married the love of her life, Joseph Hromidko. The same year they bought a farm south of Bagley where they worked together. They were blessed with 4 children; Kathryn in November of 1947, Bonnie in December of 1949, Candy in June of 1951, and Michael in December of 1955. Lorretta and Joe had New Years Eve card parties every year for 42 years, and enjoyed going to many Polka Fests and dances throughout the years. Lorretta also worked at Bagley Public Schools for 22 years. She worked for the VA program, as Secretary in the Superintendent’s office, and as the Transportation Director where she was loved by many coworkers. Lorretta retired to take care of her husband, who had gotten sick with cancer.
In later years, she went on to volunteer in many places, such as the Bagley Senior Center, the Bagley Food Shelf, many Church Boards, the Title 3 Program Board and The Clearwater County Fair. She was a Legion Auxiliary member and volunteered for the Legion from time to time. Lorretta also worked in the Thrifty White Drugstore for American Greetings Cards. Throughout the years, Lorretta enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, both food and flowers, canning, cooking and baking. She baked every Saturday without a miss, and each Thanksgiving and Christmas season for local hospitals and Nursing Care Facilities for many many years. She always shared a lot of love with everybody.
Lorretta loved spending time with her Grandchildren and around 2000, two grandchildren lived on her property, alongside her with her son. She loved them all, and made many memories with them. Lorretta shared many values and taught them many things throughout the years, especially her talents of baking and cooking. She also shared moments with her great grandchildren. Lorretta fully lived at home, with the support of family, until 2020, when she went to reside at Fosston Essentia Living Care Center. She had the time of her life there, making many new memories. Lorretta treasured the staff there, and she also became loved very dearly.
Lorretta went to be with God in Heaven, on April 3, 2023, however she lives on through those she loved and loved her in their memories and their hearts.
Lorretta is survived by her daughter – Kathryn (Edward) Bolstad of Grand Marais, Minnesota
Daughter – Bonnie Hromidko of Grand Marias, Minnesota
Daughter – Candy (James) Pinsonneault of Bemidji, Minnesota
Son – Mike Hromidko of Bagley, Minnesota
Grandchildren – Alena Grabowski, Angie (Scott) Pinsonneault, Nick (Kari) Pinsonneault, Jaime (Dan) Slattery and Serena Hromidko.
Great grandchildren - Aurora Shelquist and Asher Krumrey and Keelan and Ella Pinsonneault
Brother – Wilfred Heinecke of Bagley, Minnesota
Lorretta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband – Joe; siblings – Gordon & Ann Heinecke and Bobby & Lila Heinecke. Several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
