Obituary for Melvin Renna

Melvin Sidney Renna was born on May 8, 1937, in Crookston, MN, the son of Gilbert and Louise (Kappedal) Renna. Growing up, he was a member of Faaberg Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. Melvin attended school and graduated in Fertile, MN.  He then started farming and working for the neighbors, haying in the area. Melvin spent most of his life on the farm raising beef cattle and grain. Most recently, he made his home at the McIntosh Manor Senior Living Center for the past 4 years.  

In his spare time, Melvin loved deer hunting and was known as a sharpshooter in his younger years. He could often be found going for drives in the neighborhood looking for skunks and coyotes.  Melvin also enjoyed watching game shows, hunting shows and country music on TV. While living at the McIntosh Senior Living Center, he would partake in all the activities- his favorite being BINGO. 

Melvin is survived by his sister, Gladys Renna; brothers: Mike Renna and Cliff (Barb) Renna; nieces: Jessica, Sherry, Kim, and Kristy; nephews: Jason, Andrew, and Terry; and several great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

He is proceded in death by his parents: Gilbert and Louise; sisters: Betty and Sylvia; sister-in-law, Gail Renna; grandparents: Carl and Sarah Kappedal and Albert and Mina Renna.

The family would like to thank the staff at the McIntosh Manor Senior Living Center for the wonderful care Melvin received. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023, with a Time of Gathering beginning at 1:00 p.m. all at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen, MN.
