Summerfest royalty crowned July 24 in Red Lake Falls

The Little Miss and Junior Miss Summerfest Pageants were held Friday, July 24 at Community Hall in Red Lake Falls. During this event, 12 girls from around the area competed in two divisions. 

Crowned as Little Miss Summerfest 2015 was Savannah Anderson of Greenbush. She is the 6-year-old daughter of Tad and Denise Anderson and a first grade student at Middle River Elementary School. During her speech, Savannah talked about what she wants to be when she grows up.

Runner-up in the Little Miss division went to Nevaeh Kotrba. She is the 7-year-old daughter of Nick and Tanya Kotrba of Goodridge.

Other contestants in the Little Miss division were Genevieve McMullen, the 6-year-old daughter of Scott and Amanda McMullen of Thief River Falls; Brielle Reinbold, the 4-year-old daughter of Eric and Lissette Reinbold of Oklee; Amelia Warne, the 6-year-old daughter of Chris and Jin Warne of Red Lake Falls; and Georgia Walseth, the 8-year-old daughter of Ryan and Stephanie Walseth of Thief River Falls.

Crowned as Junior Miss Summerfest 2015 was Josie Johnson of Thief River Falls. She is the 10-year-old daughter of Jeremy and Jennifer Johnson and a sixth grade student at Franklin Middle School. During the talent competition, Josie performed a dance routine to “Another One Bites the Dust” and during her speech she talked about how her sister Chelsey is a great role model for her. Josie is the first pageant participant to win both the Little Miss and Junior Miss titles.

This year’s runner-up in the Junior Miss division was Brynn Olson. She is the 9-year-old daughter of Terry and Stacy Olson of Thief River Falls.

Other contestants in the Junior Miss division were Jasmyn Rud, the 12-year-old daughter of Scott and Cortney Rud of Roseau; Marin Peterson, the 10-year-old daughter of Brian and Letty Peterson of Oklee; Ava Budish, the 10-year-old daughter of Matthew and Alaina Budish of Thief River Falls; and Emma Knott, the 10-year-old daughter of Andy and Lacy Knott of Red Lake Falls.

Judges were Sherry Sorenson of Thief River Falls, Marlene Peterson of Middle River, Mike Sorteberg of Thief River Falls, Monique Willson of Thief River Falls, and Havie Lee of Red Lake Falls. The auditor was Kathy Schmitz of Red Lake Falls. 

A special presentation honoring all past winners of the pageant was conducted during the event. The past royalty included Little Miss Summerfest 2008 BreAnnene Willson, Little Miss Summerfest 2009 Melissa Stennes, Junior Miss Summerfest 2009 Taylor Lemonds, Little Miss Summerfest 2010 Rylee Haugen, Junior Miss Summerfest 2010 Faith Bruggeman, Little Miss Summerfest 2011 Josie Johnson, Junior Miss Summerfest 2011 Julia Bernstein, Little Miss Summerfest 2012 Gracie Anderson, Junior Miss Summerfest 2012 Topanga Brown, Little Miss Summerfest 2013 Brynn Olson, Junior Miss Summerfest 2013 Dominica Bernstein, Little Miss Summerfest 2014 Graceyn Kvasager, and Junior Miss Summerfest 2014 Grace Brandon.

The coordinator for this event was Destiny Kuznia, co-coordinator was Michelle Harmoning, emcee was 

Jason Kenfield, sound and lights operator was Kevin Harmoning, and hostess was Kassy Pearson, all of Red Lake Falls. Videography was done by Bobbie Olson of Oklee.
