$9,517 Awarded to Thirty-five Contestants at the Gonvick Lions Rodeo

The Gonvick Lions Rodeo was a spectacular event. Thirty-Five contestants won prizes. The Bareback Riding winner was Al Wolf from Clara City. Al scored 67 points and won a total of $542. 

Next we have our Saddle Bronc winners Jordon Corrington from Toddville, IA and Ty Sonenstahl from Sebeka. Jordan and Ty both scored 68 points and they also both won $357. 

There were three Bull Riding winners this year. Cole Olson from Fosston, Levi Berends from Maynard, and Trevor Fagen from Sacred Heart. Cole had the best score of the three with 75 points and won $498. Levi followed close behind with a score of 73 points and won $298. Trevor wasn’t far off either with a score of 71 points and won $199. 

The Steer Wrestling winners were Alan Oberfell from Pine River and Luke Schubert from Brainerd. Alan had a winning time of 4.3 seconds and won $327. Luke came next with his time of 5.4 seconds and won $218.

Next was the Breakaway Roping winners: JoJo Wagner from Hillman, Sharon Mun from Monticello, Tamie Jo Martin from Wood Lake, Ingrid Mlodzik from Roseau, and Kaitlyn Lathem from Flandreau, SD. JoJo had an impressive time of 2.8 seconds and won $468. Sharon also did well with a time of 5.4 seconds winning $390. Tami Jo followed close behind with a time of 6.8 seconds winning $312. Ingrid Mlodzik had a time of 7.3 seconds earning her $234. Lastly we have Kaitlyn Lathem with a tine of 12.3 seconds earning $156.

Three Calf Roping contestants won prizes at the rodeo: Mikey Loiseau from Egan, SD, Ron Skovly from Aurora, SD and Cody Pitzen from Effie. Mikey won $526 with his winning time of 10.5 seconds. Coming close behind him was Ron with a time of 12.3 seconds earning him $315. Cody also did well with his time of 15.3 seconds and won $210.

The winning Over 40 Calf Roping contestants were Quinlan Thomas from Chetek, WI, Ron Skovly from Aurora, SD, and Dana Sipple from Pierpont, SD. Quinlan roped in a winning time of 12.4 seconds winning $470. Ron followed close behind with a time of 13 seconds earning $282. Dana also did well with a time of 13.5 earning $188. 

There were quite a few winning Barrel Racers this year: Jill Sundell from Elk River, Heidi Gunderson from Murdock, Payton Jacques from Elk River, Katie Loiseau from Egan, SD, Aneesa Sutton from Blackduck, and Rachel Downs from Esko. Jill had a winning time of 14.40 seconds and won $763. Heidi and Payton came close behind both having times of 14.41 seconds earning $565 each. Katie followed with a time of 14.44 winning $368. Aneesa did well with her time of 14.49 seconds and won $236. Rachel Down had a time of 14.53 earning her $131.

There were five winning Team Roping teams at this years Gonvick Lions rodeo: Dana Sipple and Perry Dykstra, Eric Nelson and Jeremy Wagner, Nathan Temple and Perry Dykstra, Brett Grinager and Lucas Agre, and lastly Jess and Timothy Stout. Dana and Perry roped in a winning time of 7.3 seconds earning $428 each. Eric and Jeremy also did well with a time of 7.6 seconds winning each of them $321. Nathan and Perry also came in with a time of 7.6 seconds earning them $321 each. Brett and Lucas had a nice time of 12.5 and won $214.
