Youth Connection at Clear Waters Life Center-Clearbrook kicked off a new year, September 9. The kids were very excited to be back, so getting them to stand for a picture by the “new” van wasn’t easy. We are thankful for our “new” used 15-passenger van which makes it possible to transport more kids from Clearbrook-Gonvick School to the Center. The van purchase was made possible with a $5000 TEAM Foundation’s grant and community support through money raised at the CWLC food booth at the Clearwater County Fair.
Charis Nordlund, YC Director, has a great group of volunteers to help with all the activities: arts & crafts, gym games, snacks, and discussion time. We appreciate all the volunteers do for our youth from feeding and transporting to planning and leading fun activities to hanging out and playing with youth. They make sure our youth know they are valued and cared for! If you love working with youth, we might even have a volunteer opportunity in which you could “plug in”.
Peeking in on an afternoon of Youth Connection, you will see and hear lots of chatter, laughter, and energy! Tug-O-War and Slime were the highlights of the first Tuesday afternoon. We are always amazed at how quiet and respectful our youth can be during circle time. They are great listeners and encouragers.
We have a great group of youth, but are always ready to welcome more, and we have the vans to transport them! YC for 5th-7th grade meets Tuesdays, after-school, and grades 8th-12th meet Wednesdays, 2:30-5:00. Youth Connection is provided free of charge to all area youth.
